The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Olot leaves Dickens with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Dickens dives in for a single leg takedown but Olot sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Olot wants to counter with a clinch but Dickens pushes him away.

Dickens changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Olot looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dickens tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Olot parries the strikes from Dickens easily there. Dickens is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Olot to escape.

Alvarado is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Alvarado hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Wakabayashi was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
