The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jon shoots for a double leg takedown but Ashton sprawls well. He's pushed Jon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Ashton throws a hook to the side of Jon's head but Jon sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jon dives in for a single leg takedown but Ashton sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Jon fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Rick Ashton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lil Jon.
Jon jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Ashton shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jon's guard.

Ashton got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ashton has managed to get both his arms back between Jon's legs - danger averted.
Jon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ashton manages to get himself to full guard.

I've been told that Jon has been drilling his wrestling of late, which has already helped him take this fight to the mat. Let's see how much of an impact it has on the outcome of the ground game.
