Vazquez felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Mortaza is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Vazquez defends it well.

Gunacrii reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Gunacrii taps out! Nice BJJ there by Superior!

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Jimenez has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Wills dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Vetrov. That did some damage!

and Wills counters with a stiff right hand.
Vetrov's coach down at All Time Wrestling - 12 ELITE COACHES was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Vetrov's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Vetrov has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Wills.

Vetrov blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
I was talking to Wills's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Wills gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Vetrov tries to kick Wills off in order to stand up. Wills Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Wills is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Vetrov is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wills tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wills has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Wills is working to tighten his grip on Vetrov's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Vetrov has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Wills is really squeezing tight and eventually Vetrov passes out! Wills breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
