Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Gunner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Javier Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Gunner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Javier Fernandez!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunner throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A slow jab from Fernandez misses its intended target.
Gunner keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Fernandez.
Gunner lands a jab to the head.
Gunner uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Fernandez.
Fernandez lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Gunner at a distance.
Gunner throws a body punch but Fernandez moves out of range.

Fernandez moves into range and clinches up with Gunner.
Fernandez keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Gunner's efforts to push away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fernandez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gunner walks away with a smile on his face. Fernandez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Gunner takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Gunner dips to his left and cracks Fernandez with an uppercut!
Fernandez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Fernandez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Fernandez rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Gunner counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Fernandez throws a hook but Gunner avoids it easily.
Fernandez avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Fernandez ducks under a wild hook from Gunner.
Fernandez misses with a wild combination.
Gunner throws a hook to the side of Fernandez's head but Fernandez sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Fernandez clinches up with Gunner and pushes him back against the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Fernandez creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Gunner's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Fernandez keeps control of Gunner as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Gunner looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Fernandez struggles to land a body shot inside as Gunner controls his hands.

Fernandez jumps guard and drags Gunner to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Fernandez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Gunner is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Gunner wants to control from the top but Fernandez keeps moving.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Fernandez throws his legs up looking for a submission but Gunner uses it to pass to side control.

Fernandez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Gunner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fernandez on the ground.
Gunner looking to sit in guard and control but Fernandez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gunner has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fernandez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gunner manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fernandez manages to get himself to full guard.

Gunner wants to get up but he can't break Fernandez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Fernandez lunges at Gunner with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Gunner's hand.
Gunner takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Fernandez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gunner.
Gunner throws a hook but Fernandez blocks it.

Fernandez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gunner, pushing him back against the cage.
Fernandez throws a head punch that misses.
Fernandez digs a right hand underneath Gunner's ribcage. Gunner let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Fernandez has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Gunner lands a right hand that snaps the head of Fernandez backwards.

Fernandez tries to stall but Gunner uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Gunner was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Fernandez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gunner paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Gunner catches Fernandez with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Fernandez lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Gunner sprawling to the canvas. Fernandez follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Gunner hang on?

Javier Fernandez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Fernandez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
