The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rizal takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Nikola Mihaljevic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mihaljevic lands a lovely overhand right.

Mihaljevic closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Mihaljevic lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Mihaljevic pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Mihaljevic throws a hook to the side of Rizal's head but Rizal sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Rizal tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Mihaljevic counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Mihaljevic stuns Rizal with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Rizal shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mihaljevic is trying to defend but Rizal finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The fighters circling - Mihaljevic throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

and Mihaljevic counters with a straight right hand.

Rizal throws a right and a left that both miss.
Mihaljevic bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Rizal's head.
Rizal fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rizal looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mihaljevic is fending him off so far but Rizal persists. Nope, Mihaljevic circles away and we're back to standing.
Mihaljevic lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Rizal. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mihaljevic leaves Rizal with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rizal feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Rizal is standing up over Mihaljevic. Mihaljevic looks to escape but Rizal dives into side control.

Rizal misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Ren changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Brain looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ren controlling the position.

Brain is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Ren moves into full mount!
Brain is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Ren has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ren can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Brain is looking to escape.

Ren is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Brain is forced to tap! Great finish!
