The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hanes.

Hanes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hanes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Hanes is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Shaw has escaped the position, nice work there.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Hanes working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Shaw is pushing Hanes's head away, looking to escape. Hanes manages to hold on to the position though.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
