The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Machida feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Machida drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Underwood manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Machida has Underwood in his guard.


Machida is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Underwood defends well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Machida is on top in guard.

Prokopos closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fawkes did well to prevent Prokopos getting side control.
Fawkes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Prokopos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Prokopos in particular looking to stall.
