The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryu's corner calls for a 1-2. Ryu obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Ryu throws a series of punches but Grena avoids them all with ease.
Grena wants to counter with a clinch but Ryu pushes him away.
Grena tries to move into range but Ryu moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Ryu getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Ryu connects with a good right hand that stumbles Grena. Grena circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Grena moves out of range of the strikes.
Grena shapes to counter with a head kick.
Ryu comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Patterson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Khan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Patterson somewhat.

The ref is looking closely - Patterson is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Patterson is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
