The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wayne takes one to the chin there.
Wayne closes the distance and clinches up with Gilliam, looking for a takedown. Wayne pushes Gilliam against the cage but Gilliam circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Despite the aggression on Gilliam's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Gilliam stuns Wayne with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Gilliam lands with a hook. Wayne tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Gilliam tries to keep at a distance but Wayne has taken the fight into the clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Gilliam has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Gilliam screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

I was talking to Jackson's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
