The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGirt plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

McGirt rushes Young and presses him up against the cage.

Young should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Young changes levels and goes for a takedown here. McGirt fights it off and pushes away nicely.
McGirt tries to bum rush Young with a series of wild strikes but Young uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

McGirt gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Fatu takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Ivo connects with a single shot there.
Ivo connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Fatu's hands.
Ivo fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Fatu has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Ivo throws a leg kick but Fatu sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Ivo throws a front kick aimed at Fatu's knee but Fatu avoids it well.
Both fighters circling a little - Ivo finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Fatu's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Ivo connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Fatu scrambles back to his feet.

Fatu walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Fatu arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Ivo's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.
