Undercard bout

I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ricochet Puma was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Lovejoy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Puma tries to clinch but Lovejoy is having none of it.
Puma just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromLovejoy.

Puma looks to land a combination but Lovejoy avoids it well.
Lovejoy lands with a slapping head kick.
Puma tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lovejoy sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Puma somewhat.

I was talking to Lovejoy's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Puma throws a hook to the side of Lovejoy's head but Lovejoy sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Puma moves in looking to clinch but Lovejoy pushes him off.
Puma looks to score with a jab to the body but Lovejoy is just out of range.

Lovejoy closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Puma scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Lovejoy manages to mount him!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Puma is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Lovejoy locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Puma is forced to tap!

Zaki takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Edwards moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Edwards fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Zaki.
Edwards fakes the leg kick and cracks Zaki in the body.
Edwards connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Zaki has eaten all the pies!

Edwards has taken the fight to the clinch.

Zaki gets tackled into the cage by Edwards. Edwards maintains the clinch.

Edwards's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Edwards, as that shot connected.
Zaki is still on wobbly legs! Can Edwards finish him?

Ostgaard has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Ostgaard there as he acknowledges the shot.
Olson lands a lovely overhand right.
Ostgaard fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Olson throws a nice looking combination but Ostgaard bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Ostgaard tries to counter with a takedown but Olson is quick to defend against it.

Olson smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Olson clobbers Ostgaard with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Olson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Olson.

It looks like Heika Ostgaard has been cut.

Standfield drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Standfield seems to have locked his on tight now - Nice screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Standfield, as he picks up the win!

Turner pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Gumshoe misses with a takedown attempt
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Turner throws a low kick but Gumshoe moves out of range easily.

Well Gumshoe has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
