The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Sano and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Pellencau enables Bane to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Pellencau manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Bane slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Bane drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bane jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Bane stays in close to Pellencau's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Let's hope that Bane has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Pellencau wants to stand up but Bane is controlling him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bane tries to free his leg and advance position but Pellencau is retaining full guard.

Bane not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Pellencau wants to stand and escape but Bane is having none of it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Bane closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pellencau is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Bane has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Pellencau knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bane on the ground.

Bane moves into full mount!

Bane has hold of Pellencau's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Pellencau manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Bane is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Pellencau can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bane tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Bane is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Bane shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pellencau napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Bane lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Bane tries for a kimura but Pellencau is defending well.

Bane is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pellencau knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Bane looks winded!

Pellencau pushes Bane away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Bane gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Bane has an Americana. Pellencau didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Bane is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Bane hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
