Jung shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Shulun sprawls well. Shulun wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jung gets slowly back to his feet.

Vivian shoots in looking for a takedown. Tarly tries to sprawl out of it but Vivian keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tarly manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Vivian's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Tarly connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Vivian scrambles back to his feet.
Vivian will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Babajide's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Pocc is holding on here and Babajide must be using up a lot of energy. Pocc has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Babajide gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vermeer loads up on a big right hand but Tate slips the punch.
Miesha Tate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It looks like Miesha Tate has been cut.
Tate shoots in for a takedown but Vermeer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Tate drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Vermeer manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Tate has Vermeer in his guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tate has his foot on Vermeer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Vermeer works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tate looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Vermeer has picked Tate up and slammed him! Tate can't keep hold of the triangle and Vermeer manages to pass to side control!
Vermeer is staying tight to Tate's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Vermeer's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
