With a record of 29 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Dexter Morgan!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Anthony Taglia and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newport moves away from the strike by Morgan.
Morgan swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Newport throws a body shot but no joy.
Newport lands a slapping body shot.
Morgan misses with a jab, cross combination.
Newport throws a leg kick but Morgan sees it coming and moves out of range.
Morgan looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Morgan takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Newport misses with a low kick.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Morgan! But no joy.
Morgan lands a jab to Newport's midsection.
Newport cracks Morgan with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Newport throws a body punch but Morgan moves out of range.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Newport, as that shot connected.
Newport feints and then cracks Morgan's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Morgan down.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Morgan misses with a body punch
and Newport finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Newport tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Morgan was well out of range. Poor timing from Newport.
Newport connects with a solid leg kick.

Newport has been working on his boxing with his coaches at *****MY YARD***** in the buildup to the fight.

and Newport counters with a low kick, right behind Morgan 's knee.

Newport misses with a hook. Morgan ducked under it nicely.

Newport moves into range and clinches up with Morgan.

Morgan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Newport tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Morgan paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Morgan on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Newport feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Morgan's calf.
Newport tries to clinch there but Morgan circles away.
Newport misses with a head kick.
Newport slips a jab from Morgan.
Newport checks the leg kick nicely there.
Newport moves out of range as Morgan strikes.
Morgan throws a predictable looking body shot
and Newport counters with a straight right hand.
Some bone on bone action there as Morgan checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Newport tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A nice side step and Morgan releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

A lazy left from Newport finds it's target.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Morgan throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Newport utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Morgan misses with the head strike.
Morgan doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Morgan blocking some punches.
Newport blocks a body shot from Morgan.
Morgan lands with a right to the head.
Newport tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Morgan moves out of range as Newport strikes.
Morgan flicks out a counter leg kick but Newport steps away.

Aaron Newport seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Newport throws a leg kick which misses Morgan's front leg but catches the back leg as Morgan tries to avoid it.

and Morgan counters with a crisp one two that drops Newport! Morgan thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Newport to his feet! Newport is in big trouble!

Newport makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Newport lands a right hand that snaps the head of Morgan backwards.

Morgan throws a head punch that misses.
Newport manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Newport scores with a hook to the body.
Newport with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Newport misses with a knee strike.
Newport has Morgan pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Morgan is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Newport - that's hurt Morgan badly! Oh, another knee lands and Morgan is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Morgan doesn't seem to be complaining.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Aaron Newport!
