The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruutu with a hook.

It looks like Melvin Gustin has been cut.
Gustin swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Ruutu.

Ruutu lands a big right hand that sends Gustin crashing to the mat! Ruutu stays standing though and waves Gustin back to his feet!

Gustin is rocked!
Ruutu slips a jab and a cross from Gustin.
Ruutu throws a big counter combination but Gustin scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Gustin is still on wobbly legs! Can Ruutu finish him?
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gustin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ruutu manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Ruutu throws a big counter combination but Gustin scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
No joy there for Ruutu, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Gustin has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
A nice combination there by Gustin.
Gustin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ruutu manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monkey keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Halo.
Halo lands a leg kick that knocks Monkey off balance momentarily.
Monkey avoids the head kick by Halo.
Good leg kick by Monkey there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
A slapping body kick lands there for Halo.
Jab, jab by Monkey - just one landing.
Monkey shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Halo as he jumps to the side.
Monkey moves out of range of the body kick.
Halo goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Monkey shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Halo swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Monkey throws a good cross that connects.
Halo looks to land a right hand but Monkey moved out of range.

Monkey feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That was a close round but I would say that Donny Davis will probably get the nod.
