The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Gold clinches up with Geens and pushes him back against the cage.
Our sources have told us that Gold has been working on his elbows in the gym.
Gold wants a takedown.
Gold changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Geens fights it off and pushes away nicely.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Geens has eaten all the pies!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Gold stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Geens swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Geens pushes a forearm under Gold's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Gold is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). James Geens!
