The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Darma takes a jab right on the kisser.
Darma takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Darma tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dignam sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Darma somewhat.

Thornton comes into the arena with 18 'Til I Die by Bryan Adams blaring out of the sound system. Silver Jr comes into a darkened arena with his song building. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Coltrane is defended easily by Parker.

Parker gets caught napping as Coltrane dives in and scores a takedown. Parker manages to retain guard.

Ling with the counter takedown but Bei avoids it easily.
Bei leaves Ling with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ling throws a body punch but Bei moves out of range.

and Ling counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ling.
Ling is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Bei is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ling is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ling content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Bei knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ling on the ground.

Ling lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Ling winds up and cracks Bei with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Ling looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Bei pushes Ling off looking to stand but Ling dives back in and keeps control.

Bei on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bei tries to get out of the position.
Ling takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ling thows a huge punch but Bei dodges it nicely.

Ling stops Bei from getting back to his feet.
Ling with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Ling scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Ling has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bei has hold of Ling's hands but Ling slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ling lands a nice short elbow.
Ling winds up and cracks Bei with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Ling seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ling looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bei with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Ling landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Ling takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Ling lands with a punch from half guard.
Ling winds up and cracks Bei with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Ling is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ling moves into full mount! Bei won't be happy about that!

The fight stays on the outside here - Bei looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Ling jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bei walks away with a smile on his face. Ling gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Liu Bei has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Donny Ling.
Ling avoids a punch combination nicely.
Liu Bei seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ling avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ling changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Bei is looking to stand back up but Ling counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Bei.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
