Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Aritz Aguado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny Jones!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones lands a nice hook to Aguado's body. Aguado takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Aguado moves out of range of the body kick from Jones.
Aguado seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Aguado uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Aguado misses with a jab, cross combination.

Aguado closes the distance and clinches.

Aguado breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Johnny Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aguado shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side.
Jones throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Aguado could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Aguado fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jones, pushing him back against the cage.

Jones is fighting off a takedown attempt but Aguado is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Jones to the mat. Jones regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Jones looks winded!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Aguado postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Aguado postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Jones has his foot on Aguado's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aguado works his way back into a safe position though.
Aguado lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Aguado controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Aguado gets to his feet - Jones follows without any prompting.
Aguado fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jones feints the counter takedown.
Jones misses with a wild body shot.
Aguado throws a quick counter kick to the body but Jones avoids it.

Aguado gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Aguado is trying to trip Jones. He has hold of a leg but Jones is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Aguado persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jones enables Aguado to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jones manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Aguado thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jones's head.
Jones is looking for a sweep. Aguado is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Aguado wants to pass to mount but Jones is defending the position.
Aguado perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jones working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Aguado doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Jones is tightening it up a little... Aguado has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Aguado reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Aguado taps out! Nice BJJ there by Jones!

Maciel scores with a hook to the body. Syntax takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Maciel misses with a head kick.
Maciel throws a one two combo.

It looks like CL Syntax has been cut.
Syntax has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Syntax throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Maciel stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Syntax follows into mount!

Maciel is rocked!

It looks like Henrique Maciel has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Syntax prevents Maciel from getting the reversal.
Oh Maciel is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Maciel wants to control but Syntax is having none of it.
Syntax is landing with some decent strikes but Maciel is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Maciel is trying to escape the mount.
Syntax landing punches.
Syntax loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Maciel scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Syntax land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Syntax stands and salutes the crowd.

Shingen comes into the arena with Swarrrm - Scilence blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Shingen bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Shingen smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Shingen scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Takeda Shingen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Billings has managed to clinch.
Shingen lands a body shot in the clinch.
Shingen lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Billings backwards.

Billings wants the takedown. Shingen is fighting it off but Billings persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Shingen's guard against the cage.

Billings has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Shingen to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Billings is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Shingen pulls down on the head and he's put Billings to sleep! This one is all over!

Michaelson tries to bum rush Bilnes with a series of wild strikes but Bilnes uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
And Bilnes tries to counter it with a takedown but Michaelson pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kairo Schmeldty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mariusz Boruch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boruch comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Cypis - Impra jest tu kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Kairo Schmeldty had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 136.3lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Takano circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends Alcacer tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Takano wins by KO!

Khabilov catches Monson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

It looks like Dave Monson has been cut.
Monson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Khabilov avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Khabilov has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Monson.

Khabilov fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Khabilov closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Monson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Khabilov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Juarez is working to tighten his grip on Doni's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Doni has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Juarez is really squeezing tight and eventually Doni passes out! Juarez breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
