The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pappalardo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wehmer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Wehmer is looking to work some ground and pound but Pappalardo has wrist control.

Wehmer is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Wehmer throws an elbow that misses. Pappalardo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Wehmer's guard. Nice move by Pappalardo!

Wehmer working for a triangle but Pappalardo defends it easily.
Pappalardo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Pappalardo wants to get up but he can't break Wehmer's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Wehmer bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pappalardo's guard.

Wehmer drops back looking for a leg! Pappalardo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pappalardo manages to kick Wehmer off! Wehmer jumps back into Pappalardo's guard.

Wehmer drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wehmer jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Wehmer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pappalardo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pappalardo can do anything to dispel that myth.

Pappalardo wants to get back to his feet but Wehmer is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karalopolous has his takedown stuffed
enabling Hattori to counter with a crisp jab.

Karalopolous closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hattori quickly recovers to half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Karalopolous looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hattori with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Karalopolous thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Hattori tries to kick Karalopolous off but Karalopolous keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Karalopolous thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hattori's head.
Hattori is trying to stand up here but Karalopolous is controlling him well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Karalopolous shoots in looking for a takedown but Hattori manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Karalopolous's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Karalopolous throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Karalopolous looks for a takedown but Hattori sprawls well.
Masa Hattori has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dimi Karalopolous.
Hattori fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

It looks like Dimi Karalopolous has been cut.

Karalopolous shoots in but Hattori avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Karalopolous looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hattori is fending him off so far but Karalopolous persists. Nope, Hattori circles away and we're back to standing.
Dimi Karalopolous seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hattori shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Karalopolous eats them both and turns towards Hattori to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Karalopolous looks for a takedown but Hattori sprawls well.

Karalopolous ducks right into an uppercut from Hattori.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Karalopolous gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Hattori.

Karalopolous will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Karalopolous is still on wobbly legs! Can Hattori finish him?
Karalopolous get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Karalopolous stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the cage but Hattori runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!
