On his way into the cage it seems that Max Assadi has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Max Assadi seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Assadi tries to clinch but Buckshank moves out of range.

Buckshank pushes off an throws an elbow but Assadi leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Buckshank's coach down at FIGHT LAB was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Buckshank's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Assadi tries to move into range but Buckshank moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Assadi is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Assadi throws a predictable looking body shot
and Buckshank counters with a left right combination that sends Assadi crashing to the mat - Buckshank wastes no time in diving on top of him and pounding Assadi out for a TKO! Devastating finish!

Dar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Marchand as he avoids it easily.
Dar fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Marchand misses with a wild combination.
Marchand scores with a hook to the body. Dar takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Dar swats away the attempt to clinch by Marchand.
Marchand misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Dar counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Marchand isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Dar stacks Marchand on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Dar!

Marchand is trying to work for a sweep but Dar has mounted him!

Dar manages to capitalize on a mistake by Marchand to take his back!

Noam Dar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Marchand's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Marchand lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Dar has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Dar and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

and Dar counters with a shoot takedown. Marchand fights it but they end up in guard.
Dar is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dar connects with a nice short shot to Marchand's temple.

And Soriano tries to counter it with a takedown but Griffin pushes his down on his head and steps out.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Soriano got a little sloppy there for a moment and Griffin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Soriano has managed to get both his arms back between Griffin's legs - danger averted.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter tests Askren's chin there with a solid looking shot.

It looks like Yen Askren has been cut.
A looping hook to the body misses from Carter. Askren does a little dance to reset his feet.
Carter is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Askren like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Askren from another fist facial!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Michael Carter!
Michael Carter is the new middleweight champion!
Michael Carter was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
Yen Askren spoke after the fight, saying 'I blame Bjorn and the Egg.'.
