The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matters swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Riviera tries to close the distance and clinch up but Matters swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Karl Riviera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Matters finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Riviera tries to clinch but Matters moves out of range.
Riviera shoots in but no luck this time.
Riviera is looking to clinch.
Matters misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Matters bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Matters throws an elbow but Riviera slips to the side and avoids it well.
Matters in side control, throwing shots but Riviera defends.
Matters throws a strike aimed at the side of Riviera's head but Riviera avoids it well.

Matters is working to tighten is grip on Riviera's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Riviera has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Matters is really squeezing tight and eventually Riviera passes out! Matters breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Rodrigo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva comes into the arena with The Pot - Tool blaring out of the sound system. Rodrigo has chosen Pachanga - Calienta as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Paulo Silva had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.2lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!
