I was talking to Monteban's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Juanito Cortez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 21 - 0, fighting out of London, Lance Legstrong!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Wagner Zegers and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Legstrong takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Legstrong cracks Cortez with a right hand to the side of the head.
Cortez has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Cortez throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Legstrong sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Cortez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Legstrong paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Legstrong swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Cortez misses with a two punch combination.
Legstrong scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Legstrong throws a right hand that misses
and Cortez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Legstrong scores with a jab to the jaw.
Cortez has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Cortez there as he acknowledges the shot.
Cortez slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Legstrong rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Cortez counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Cortez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Cortez takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Legstrong lands a jab to the head.

Cortez is rocked!
Cortez throws out a loose jab but Legstrong uses good head movement to avoid it.
Oh Cortez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cortez tries a head kick but it misses.
Legstrong looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Cortez seems to have got his legs back now.
Cortez gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Legstrong with a nice cross.
and Legstrong counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Cortez! He's just covering up as Legstrong starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lance Legstrong!
Lance Legstrong is the new middleweight champion!
In his post fight interview, Lance Legstrong started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
In defeat, Juanito Cortez stepped up to the mic, saying 'Well...shit happens....i will b back!'.
