Bastard throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Bastard's coach down at Cozad The Island was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Bastard's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Bastard throws a big shot that misses.
Lyagushov is looking to counter punch.
Lyagushov showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Bastard.
Bastard scores with a jab to the body.
Lyagushov takes one to the chin there.
Nice straight punches there by Lyagushov. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Lyagushov.
Bastard swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Lyagushov.

Lyagushov ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Bastard lands with a right that hurts Lyagushov. Lyagushov looks to clinch but Bastard throws a short knee that drops Lyagushov. This one is all over!

Embalmer lands a big shot there that rocks Crap but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Embalmer has hold of Crap's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Crap manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Crap is in a horrible position here. Embalmer smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brandau misses with a takedown attempt
and Mafaking counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Brandau shoots in looking for a takedown but Mafaking manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Brandau's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Brandau pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
It looked like Mafaking wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Royce Brandau seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brandau misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A little feinted left hand from Mafaking on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Bruce Mafaking has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Royce Brandau.
Mafaking ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Brandau looks for a takedown but Mafaking sprawls well.
It looked like Mafaking was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Brandau.
We've been hearing reports that Mafaking has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Mafaking cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Mafaking makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Mafaking postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Brandau covers up, he's hurt! Mafaking keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Mafaking and the ref steps in to end the fight! Mafaking can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
