Abbaspour lands a left and a right that send Gomez crashing to the mat, dazed. Abbaspour thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Monte Gomez has been cut.
Gomez drops his hands for a split second and Abbaspour immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Gomez face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Abbaspour follows up with a right hand that knocks Gomez into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Damien OQuinn.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for OQuinn, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hilton with a jab.
Hilton lands a really nice looking cross but Gentili seems unphased.
Hilton throws a head kick that misses.

Hilton fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Gentili on the side of the head.
We've been told by Hilton's head coaches at Midnight MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

No luck for Gentili with that takedown attempt.

Gentili's coach down at Jitz MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Gentili's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Hilton lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Gentili is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Hilton to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Hilton shrugs it off.

Van Rijn throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Chan's head.
Van Rijn drops his hands momentarily and Chan takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

It looks like Mike Van Rijn has been cut.
Chan throws a body shot but no joy.
Van Rijn lands a head kick. Chan smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Van Rijn lands a big head kick that sends Chan tumbling to the mat! Van Rijn takes a step backwards and waves Chan back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Chan is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Chan wants to stay close but Van Rijn steps back to make room for something. Chan seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Van Rijn and Chan drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!
