Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Inarritu fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hendrix manages to avoid it.
Hendrix wants to counter with a clinch but Inarritu pushes him away.
Hendrix shoots in for a takedown but Inarritu shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Hendrix throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Inarritu fires out a quick counter leg kick but Hendrix just manages to avoid it.
Inarritu swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hendrix has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Inarritu finds it's way round the side to connect with Hendrix's head.
Hendrix takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Inarritu connects with a leg kick. Hendrix looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Inarritu wobbles Hendrix with a right hand and the left hook that follows puts him on his rear! Inarritu dives in with a huge flying punch that connects right on the button and puts Hendrix to sleep! - What a violent and spectacular finish!

Valashnikov shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Valashnikov tries to close the distance and clinch but Jaryoki swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Jaryoki forces Valashnikov back against the cage and clinches.
Valashnikov wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Valashnikov changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Jaryoki fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Jaryoki shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Valashnikov manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Valashnikov looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Jaryoki has picked Valashnikov up and slammed him! Valashnikov can't keep hold of the triangle and Jaryoki manages to pass to side control!
Jaryoki is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Valashnikov will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Valashnikov avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Jaryoki.

Jaryoki working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Valashnikov turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Jaryoki off and cradles Valashnikov's limp body as Jaryoki celebrates with his corner.

Twist misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Twist throws a nice looking combination but Mirr bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Twist moves into the clinch.
Mirr letting Twist take a breather here.
Mirr has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Twist avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Mirr manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Mirr is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Twist is not content to let Mirr control the position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Mirr decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Twist's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mirr accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Mirr is pushing down on Twist's leg trying to pass to half guard. Twist is fighting to maintain full guard but Mirr has managed to sneak the leg through.
Twist takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Twist is doing well to control the position and prevent Mirr from advancing to side control.

Mirr is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Twist defends it well.

Twist is staying active underneath Mirr, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Mirr thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Mirr stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Twist tries a head kick but it misses.
Mirr tries to close the distance and clinch up but Twist swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Frank Mirr is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mirr closes the distance and pushes Twist back into the cage.

Mirr has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Twist can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Twist must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Mirr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Twist doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Mirr is tightening it up a little... Twist has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Twist reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Twist taps out! Nice BJJ there by Mirr!
