Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chienh Chih Wu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Francis Hunt!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, David Hoff and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wu is looking to clinch but Hunt is avoiding it.
Nice takedown defense from Wu. No joy for Hunt on that attempt.
Hunt with a lazy takedown attempt
and Wu counters with a big head kick but Hunt shrugs it off.
Wu moves in looking to clinch but Hunt pushes him off.
Wu shoots and misses

and Hunt counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hunt.
Wu is looking for a takedown.
Hunt lands a nice knee to the body.

Hunt gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Wu is trying to stand back up but Hunt is controlling him
Hunt not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Wu wants to get back to his feet.
Still in half guard, Hunt seems content to control.
It looks like Hunt might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Let's hope that Hunt has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hunt throws a body shot but no joy.

Hunt rushes Wu and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Wu fails to pull guard.

Hunt has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Wu is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Wu jumps guard but Hunt stands there with Wu around his waist. Wu gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wu wants to pass the guard but Hunt is keeping the position.
Wu wants to control from the top but Hunt keeps moving.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hunt can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Wu drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wu jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hunt is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Hunt is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Wu takes a swing at Hunt's ribcage but misses.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Wu moves in looking to clinch but Hunt pushes him off.

Hunt gets a clinch.
Wu jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hunt walks away with a smile on his face. Wu gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Hunt closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Hunt breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hunt shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Wu sprawls well. Wu wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hunt gets slowly back to his feet.
Hunt slips a jab and a cross from Wu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hunt jumps into guard, dragging Wu to the mat.

Hunt is working an open guard so Wu takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Hunt closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Wu is trying to drag Hunt to the mat but Hunt just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Wu is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Hunt is defending well.
Wu is trying to drag Hunt to the mat but Hunt just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Hunt tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wu sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hunt somewhat.

Wu jumps guard but Hunt stands there with Wu around his waist. Wu gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Francis Hunt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wu tries to buck Hunt off but Hunt is having none of it.
Wu manages to work his way to half guard, despite Hunt's best efforts.
Wu is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hunt's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hunt's back!

Hunt has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Wu misses with a punch to the head.
Wu is looking to control Hunt but Hunt is wriggling around and keeping busy.
I really don't envy Hunt right now.
Hunt looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Hunt is trying to get to his feet but he's left his neck exposed and Wu manages to sink in a rear naked choke! Great counter grappling by Wu!
