The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burner takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

It looks like Robert Burner has been cut.

Burner fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Volg to the ground. Burner is now in Volg's guard.
Volg not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Burner's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Burner postures up in Volg's guard and throws a big left but Volg blocks it.
Burner controls from within his opponent's guard.
Volg looking to control.
Volg is trying to hold Burner in close to prevent damage but Burner has managed to pass into half guard.
Burner with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burner drops an elbow to the side of Volg's head.
Volg has hold of Burner's hands but Burner slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Burner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Volg has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Burner is working away from the top position though.
Burner seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Cailloux drops down looking for a counter takedown but De Souza sprawls and moves away.
De Souza connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Cailloux's hands.
De Souza throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cailloux.
A telegraphed right hand from Cailloux misses the target.
And De Souza tries to counter it with a takedown but Cailloux pushes his down on his head and steps out.
De Souza throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Cailloux drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Cailloux remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

As Conga tries to get set, Wood tries to push him back and clinch up but Conga manages to avoid the attempt.
Wood avoids the head kick by Conga.
Conga looks to score with a jab to the body but Wood is just out of range.
Conga looks to land a combination. Wood sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Wood feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Conga sprawling to the canvas! Conga rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Wood finish him?!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Conga lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Conga ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wood moves away.

Conga bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A looping hook to the body misses from Conga. Wood does a little dance to reset his feet.

Wood throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A nice combination there by Conga.
Conga throws a head kick that misses.
Conga bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Conga lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wood circles away quickly and effectively.
Wood throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A left lands for Conga.
A shot to the body from Conga misses
and Wood cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Check Conga seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wood moves into the clinch successfully.
Wood lands a hook that snaps the head of Conga backwards.

That has opened up Check Conga's cut even more.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wood throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Wood pushes Conga against the cage. Wood is working some dirty boxing. Wood pushes off with a quick right hook! Conga goes down! Conga tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Wood moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Maczynski is still on wobbly legs! Can Bludgeon finish him?
Maczynski drops his hands momentarily. Bludgeon doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Maczynski staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Maczynski doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

A very excited looking Barry Bludgeon made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pierre clinches with his opponent.
Pierre jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dawson walks away with a smile on his face. Pierre gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Dawson moves into range and clinches up with Pierre.

Pierre gets control of Dawson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Pierre will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Pierre looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dawson is one step ahead there.

Pierre is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Dawson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pierre swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dawson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pierre has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dawson has managed to get both his arms back between Pierre's legs - danger averted.

Dawson has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Pierre to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Dawson is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Pierre pulls down on the head and he's put Dawson to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Antoine Pierre!
After the fight, Antoine Pierre was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
In defeat, Violet Dawson stepped up to the mic, saying 'I have failed you father please forgive me'.

The fighters circling - Paulin throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Pickledoo! But no joy.
Paulin throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Paulin throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Pickledoo on the side of the head.
Paulin moves out of range of the strikes.
Paulin was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Paulin scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pickledoo is keeping his hands low and just asking to be knocked out. Paulin Raises his leg and lands a stunning axe kick! Pickledoo is out cold, face down on the mat!
