Brian Mills seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smithson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Banner throws a jab when Smithson was well out of range.

Smithson has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Smithson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Smithson wants it to stay on the feet.
Smithson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Banner.
Smithson looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Banner fails to land with a series of punches.
Smithson scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Banner seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Some wild striking there from Smithson.
Banner was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Banner doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Smithson catches Banner with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Smithson avoids a punch combination nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smithson lands a jab.
Banner shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Smithson sprawls well. Smithson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Banner gets slowly back to his feet.
Smithson steps in with a hook that catches Banner right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Smithson follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Banner looks absolutely devastated.

Plouman lands a nice looking body shot.
Tapia takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Plouman dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Plouman connects with a body shot that sends Tapia's belly button to the back.
Plouman fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Plouman scores with the left hand. Tapia knows he should have avoided that one.
Plouman scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tapia takes one to the chin there.

Tapia gets the takedown into side control.
Plouman tries to buck Tapia off but Tapia is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tapia tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Plouman is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Tapia off and has taken his back!
Tapia really must keep his cool here. He's controlling one of Plouman's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position.

Plouman is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Tapia is defending well though. Plouman let's go of the attempt for now.

Tapia has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Plouman has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Tapia taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Plouman doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Deschencko throws a right hand that Kowalevitz ducks under and follows up with a left that Kowalevitz also avoids with ease.
Kowalevitz shoots in for a double leg but Deschencko sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Deschencko moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Deschencko swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Deschencko lands a nice leg kick that just misses Kowalevitz's sensitive parts.
Deschencko looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Deschencko scoring well with a low kick there.
Kowalevitz dives in and grabs Deschencko's left leg, looking for a takedown. Deschencko pushes down on Kowalevitz's head and hops out.
Kowalevitz fails with the takedown.
Vladimir Deschencko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Victor Kowalevitz.

Deschencko has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Kowalevitz is really squeezing tight and eventually Deschencko passes out! Kowalevitz breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Hickings is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
