The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lewis is defended easily by McTaggart.
Lewis shoots in for a double leg but McTaggart sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
McTaggart appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

McTaggart feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Lewis wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and McTaggart manages to pass to side control.

McTaggart perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lewis won't allow McTaggart to pass to mount.

McTaggart is looking to pass Lewis's guard but actually Lewis recovers to full guard.

McTaggart sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lewis's guard.

McTaggart seems to be looking for submissions.
McTaggart performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McTaggart's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

McTaggart is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Lewis still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Lewis has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
McTaggart is looking for a sweep.

McTaggart is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Lewis off and has taken his back!
Lewis is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get McTaggart off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Lewis might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control McTaggart haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Lewis defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of McTaggart's arms.

Lewis has hold of McTaggart's leg, trying to break free but it's let McTaggart lock up a rear naked choke! This could be big trouble! Lewis is turning an unusual color here… he's out! McTaggart throws him to one side and jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his fans.
