Undercard bout

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cody Boulton (ranked 7629 p4p, 644 weight class) and Jack King (ranked 5262 p4p, 572 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jack King was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cody Boulton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack King!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Kavanagh and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
King slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
King sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Boulton's guard.
Boulton wants to get back to full guard.
Still in half guard, King seems content to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

King looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Boulton won't allow King to pass to mount.

King takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boulton pushes King off looking to stand but King dives back in and keeps control.

King looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Boulton has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. King is working away from the top position though.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Boulton gets a clinch.
King drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Boulton gets the underhooks and prevents it.

King has Boulton pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. King pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Boulton tumbling to the mat - King dives into Boulton's guard.

Boulton is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. King is aware though and is defending well.
King slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

King got a little sloppy there for a moment and Boulton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, King has managed to get both his arms back between Boulton's legs - danger averted.

You can see the frustration on Henson's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
