Shoryu comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Soothsayer kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tanner looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Shoryu!
Shoryu looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Tanner thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Tanner content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Tanner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Tanner is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Shoryu knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Shoryu shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Tanner manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Tanner manages to escape and get back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Shingoke Shoryu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tanner drives through with a takedown into Shoryu's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Tanner shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Shoryu can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Tanner controls the pace.
Tanner has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Tanner drops back looking for a leg! Shoryu is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Shoryu manages to kick Tanner off! Tanner jumps back into Shoryu's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shoryu is working an open guard so Tanner takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Shoryu throws a lazy head kick
and Tanner counters by clinching up.
Tanner lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Shoryu backwards.

Tanner lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Tanner has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Shoryu regains guard immediately.
Shoryu wants to get back to his feet but Tanner passes into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tanner is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Shoryu has managed to free his arm - good work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tanner wants to work for an arm triangle but Shoryu is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Shoryu is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Tanner scores with a couple of nice shots.
Tanner drops an elbow to the side of Shoryu's head.
Tanner has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Shoryu defend it? Tanner steps over the head and cranks it - Shoryu is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Tanner!
