Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Francis Burch (ranked 8154 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergey Steam (ranked 5465 p4p, 0 weight class). Steam is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Scooter. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Francis Burch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sergey Steam!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steam pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Burch fires out a quick counter leg kick but Steam just manages to avoid it.

Steam darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Burch is looking to escape.
Burch trying to control but Steam postures up.
Burch pushes Steam off looking to stand but Steam dives back in and keeps control.
Burch really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Steam slows the pace down in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burch is trying to stand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Burch has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Steam is working away from the top position though.
Steam thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Burch's head.
Steam missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Burch tries to roll over but Steam keeps him under control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Steam moves into range and clinches up with Burch.
Burch gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Steam.
Steam comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

It looks like Francis Burch has been cut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Burch can't find room to land a body shot as Steam controls the action.
Burch looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Steam's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Steam closes the distance and clinches.
Steam should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Burch manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Burch is trying to push Steam away but Steam has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Steam is fighting off a takedown attempt but Burch is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Steam to the mat. Steam regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Steam utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Steam looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Burch gets to his feet - Steam follows without any prompting.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Steam fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Burch.

Steam clinches up with Burch and pushes him back against the cage.
Steam tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Burch just stands there and leans against the cage.
Burch tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Steam's elbow.
Burch avoiding damage as Steam throws knees to the body.

Steam's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Steam shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Francis Burch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sergey Steam.
Burch stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Burch wants it to stay on the feet.
Burch appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

Steam pushes Burch up against the cage in a clinch.
Burch wants to break the clinch but can't.
Steam is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Burch's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Steam lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Steam gets a clinch.
Steam is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Burch to keep the fight standing.
Burch stalling the fight.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Steam tries to pull guard but Burch won't allow it.
Burch blocks the elbow strike.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Burch tries to break the clinch but Steam is controlling the position.

Burch escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Steam fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Burch to the ground. Steam is now in Burch's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sergey Steam dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Francis Burch's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Steam darts in looking for a takedown but Burch gets double underhooks and turns Steam into the cage.
Steam takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Burch scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Burch seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Steam makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Steam.
Burch controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Burch trying to stand up but can't free himself from Steam's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Steam tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Steam controls Burch momentarily but Burch frees himself.

Burch decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Steam, up you get!
Burch tries to clinch but Steam moves out of range.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Steam has eaten all the pies!
A head kick misses from Steam.
As Steam looks to move away, Burch throws a big counter combo but Steam just gets out of the way.
Steam is breathing heavily.

Steam feints and as Burch raises his hands in defense, Steam changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Burch pulls Steam in close to prevent any damage.
Burch wants to stand and escape but Steam is having none of it.
Steam has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Burch trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Burch keeping moving, preventing Steam from controlling successfully.
Burch trying to control the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Steam gets a takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Steam in particular looking to stall.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Steam thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Burch's head.
Burch is looking for a sweep. Steam is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Steam stops Burch from getting back to his feet.
Steam trying to control the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Steam blocks the strikes from Burch.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Steam forces Burch back against the cage and clinches.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Steam successfully pulls guard.
Burch is looking to stand up but Steam won't let him.
Steam is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Steam looking for a triangle here. Burch is fighting it but it looks tight! Steam pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Burch is tapping out - this one is all over!
