Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Phil Sharp!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Anthony Taglia and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sharp gets caught flat footed, as Malina shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Malina sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Malina missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Sharp wants to stand but Malina is controlling the position.

Malina decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
A right-left combo lands from Sharp.
Sharp looks winded!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sharp swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Phil Sharp seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Malina slips under a jab from Sharp.
Malina throws a leg kick which misses Sharp's front leg but catches the back leg as Sharp tries to avoid it.
Malina takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Sharp swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Malina is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sharp sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Malina shoots for a double leg takedown but Sharp sprawls well. He's pushed Malina's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Sharp stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sharp wants it to stay on the feet.
Malina lands a nice looking kick to the body. Sharp takes a step back to recover.

Sharp lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Sharp feints a jab promting Malina to slip. Sharp then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Malina slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Sharp tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Malina shoots in for a double leg but Sharp sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Malina darts in and clinches Sharp up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sharp is looking to break free of the clinch but Malina has double underhooks.

Malina breaks from the clinch.
Malina will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Malina clinches up with Sharp and pushes him back against the cage.

Malina drags the fight down to the ground.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Malina manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Malina is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Sharp pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Malina is looking to take this one to the mat.

Sharp jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Malina walks away with a smile on his face. Sharp gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Malina really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Malina is defended easily by Sharp.
Sharp misses with a few strikes there.
Malina changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sharp tries to avoid it but Malina manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sharp to the ground. Sharp escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sharp.
Malina scores with a head kick. Sharp tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Sharp misses with a hook. Malina ducked under it nicely.
Malina goes for a double leg but Sharp avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Sharp continues to drive forward.

Malina takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Malina throws a leg kick which misses Sharp's front leg but catches the back leg as Sharp tries to avoid it.

Sharp stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Malina decides to pull guard.
Malina is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Malina wants to sweep here but Sharp controlling him for the moment.
Sharp is looking to stand up but Malina won't let him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Anton Malina will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Phil Sharp's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Malina fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sharp, pushing him back against the cage.

Malina gets control of Sharp's arms and successfully pulls guard. Malina will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Sharp would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Sharp looking to sit in guard and control but Malina gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Malina is pushing down on Sharp's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sharp is fighting to maintain full guard but Malina has managed to sneak the leg through.

Sharp tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Malina manages to move to mount!

Malina's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Malina is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sharp can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Malina shoots for a takedown but Sharp saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Malina is trying to drag Sharp to the mat but Sharp just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Sharp wants to get up but he can't break Malina's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Malina is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sharp lands a couple of elbows.
Phil Sharp has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Malina avoids the head kick by Sharp.
Sharp rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Malina counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sharp is fighting to break Malina's control of his arms but Malina is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Anton Malina is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Anton Malina.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Malina, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
