After initially coming in at 171.6lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Goetze clinches with his opponent.

Goetze drags the fight down to the ground.
Goetze has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Goetze has his foot on Hasashi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hasashi works his way back into a safe position though.
Hasashi wants to stand and escape but instead Goetze has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Goetze throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hasashi works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Goetze stays in close to Hasashi's body and controls the position.
Hasashi is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Goetze wants to control from the top but Hasashi keeps moving.
Hasashi is breathing heavily.
Hasashi preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hasashi blocks a head kick by Goetze.

Goetze has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Hasashi throws Goetze to one side and escapes!
Horrible takedown by Goetze or perhaps it was just good defense by Hasashi which made him look bad.
Goetze tries a head kick but it misses.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Goetze is on top in guard.
Hasashi being controlled here, momentarily.
Goetze pushes down on Hasashi's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Hasashi is refusing to be controlled, as Goetze sits in half guard.
Goetze lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Hasashi wants to get back to his feet.
Hasashi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Goetze on the ground.

Goetze is working for a kimura but Hasashi is defending it quite comfortably.
Hasashi is staying active underneath Goetze, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Goetze.
Hasashi throws a sloppy head kick and Goetze moves out of range easily.

Goetze moves into the clinch.

Hasashi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Goetze shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hasashi manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Goetze throws a big right hand that misses.

Goetze slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Goetze lands a nice forearm strike.
Goetze wants to control but Hasashi is keeping him busy.
Goetze lands a decent elbow from side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Goetze tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Hasashi is working to avoid the ground and pound but Goetze connects with a decent elbow.

Goetze is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hasashi has escaped the position, nice work there.
Goetze wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hasashi keeps working.

Goetze has an Americana. Hasashi didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Goetze is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Goetze hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chucky Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshihiro Akiyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Yoshihiro Akiyama was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Akiyama shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Moore manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Moore is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Moore is trying to break the clinch but Akiyama has him pressed against the cage.
Akiyama tries a knee to the head but Moore blocks it.
Moore tries to break free but Akiyama pushes him back against the cage.

Akiyama's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Moore stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Moore wants it to stay on the feet.
Moore fails to land with a series of punches.
Akiyama tries to clinch but Moore is having none of it.
Moore swings for the body but Akiyama moves out of range.
Moore throws a shot to the body.
Akiyama looks gassed!
Moore Rushes Akiyama and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Akiyama is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Moore Piles on the pressure and Akiyama crumples to the floor! This one is all over!
