I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Joey Freshwater was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jay looks to throw a body kick

and Freshwater counters with a shoot takedown. Jay fights it but they end up in guard.
Jay definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jay looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Freshwater trying to control the position from guard on top but Jay is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jay has his feet on Freshwater's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Freshwater swings for the body but Jay moves out of range.
Jay leaves Freshwater with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jay throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Freshwater was covering up waiting for the punch and Jay finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Freshwater working for a triangle but Jay defends it easily.

Freshwater escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jay gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Freshwater has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jay can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Freshwater is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Freshwater working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jay doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Freshwater is tightening it up a little... Jay has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Jay reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Jay taps out! Nice BJJ there by Freshwater!

Banan swats away the attempt to clinch by Huang.
Huang takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Huang tries a low kick but Banan avoids it.
A little jabbing left from Banan on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Huang shoots for a takedown but Banan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Banan scores with a hook to the body. Huang takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

It looks like Li Huang has been cut.

Banan lands a big uppercut and Huang crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Huang looks OK. Banan waves Huang back to his feet!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Banan lands a brutal uppercut that launches Huang off his feet! Huang tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!

Sundo throws a series of punches but Rhoades avoids them all with ease.

Rhoades looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Rhoades backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Sundo's temple! It sends Sundo violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Rhoades celebrates and the doctors try to help Sundo!

We've been told by Mourani's head coaches at The Forge that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Vasiliy Kulik!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Columbo Gatti and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kulik throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kulik throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Tantor sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kulik swings widly with a right hand
and Tantor counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Kulik takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Kulik connects with a looping right hand.
Kulik lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Nice defenses there by Tantor.
Kulik dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Tantor misses with a looping right.

Tantor lands with an uppercut that bounces Kulik off the cage and back into range.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Tantor takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Tantor stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Tantor really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Tantor throws a looping overhand right but Kulik ducks down to avoid it.

Kulik throws a hook but Tantor blocks it.
Tantor was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

and Tantor connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Tantor is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Kulik looks to throw the jab but Tantor is out of range.
Kulik bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Nice uppercut there from Kulik.
Tantor throws a solid leg kick but Kulik takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Tantor.
Tantor uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kulik.

Tantor dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Kulik rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Tantor moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kulik moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Kulik throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kulik throws a push kick but Tantor slaps the foot to one side.
Tantor uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kulik.
It looks like Tantor has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Tantor throws a good cross that connects.

Kulik throws a hook but Tantor avoids it easily.
Tantor misses with an uppercut. Kulik saw that one coming.
Tantor takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Kulik on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Tantor. Tantor obviously looking to wear him down.
Tantor dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kulik. That did some damage!

Tantor uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kulik throws a half hearted mid kick.
The crowd cheers as Tantor lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kulik doesn't seem phased though.
Kulik misses with an uppercut.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Tantor - that will leave a mark!
Tantor throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Kulik throws a fast counter high kick but Tantor manages to duck under it in time.
Kulik staying out of range there.
Tantor slips under a jab from Kulik.
Tantor's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kulik connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Tantor scrambles back to his feet.
Kulik looks to throw the jab but Tantor is out of range.
Kulik throws a shot from downtown. Tantor moves away and avoids it.
Tantor looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Kulik throws out a powerful jab.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kulik tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Tantor misses with a right hand
and Kulik counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Tantor thuds his right hand into Kulik's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Tantor misses with a hook
and Tantor takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Vasiliy Kulik will probably get the nod.
That's time! Tantor's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

The fighters circling - Kulik throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Tantor avoids a punch combination nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tantor throws the left hand but Kulik avoids the punch easily.
Tantor throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Kulik slips a straight right by Tantor.
Kulik looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Tantor connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kulik. Kulik circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Tantor drops Kulik with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Kulik looks back up at him and smiles so Tantor waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

and Tantor scores with a counter punch that sends Kulik to the canvas! Tantor smells blood - he's punishing Kulik with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Kulik has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
