That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sparky Anderson.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 24 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shoei Braz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Lambton!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jonathan Paton and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Braz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Lambton counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

It looks like Shoei Braz has been cut.
Braz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lambton sprawls well. Lambton wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Braz gets slowly back to his feet.
Braz dives in and grabs Lambton's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lambton pushes down on Braz's head and hops out.
A little jabbing left from Lambton on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shoei Braz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lambton connects with a good right hand that stumbles Braz. Braz circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Braz manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Lambton on his heels. He'll look to pass Lambton's guard now, I'm sure.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Braz throws a big right hand that misses.
Lambton is looking to stand up but Braz isn't so interested in that idea.
Braz in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Braz missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Braz postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Lambton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Braz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Braz drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lambton looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lambton looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lambton!

Lambton tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Braz is looking to reverse the position.

Lambton has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Braz scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Lambton is trying to buck Braz off.
Braz advances to mount.

Braz moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Lambton has worked his arm free - good work by Lambton!

Braz is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lambton knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lambton wants to get back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lambton can do anything to dispel that myth.
Braz lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Lambton down.
Braz prevents Lambton from escaping the position.

Braz goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Lambton has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Braz but great work by Lambton.
Lambton tries to stand but Braz controls the position and pulls Lambton into his guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lambton wants to stand but Braz has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Braz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Lambton decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Braz, up you get!
Lambton throws a hook but Braz avoids it easily.
Braz shoots in looking for a takedown. Lambton tries to sprawl out of it but Braz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lambton manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lambton has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Braz is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Lambton scores with a nice right hand.
Braz is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Shoei Braz's cut is getting worse.

Braz closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lambton quickly recovers to half guard.

Lambton has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Braz is on him like a limpet, forcing Lambton back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lambton lands an uppercut.
Lambton swings wildly with an uppercut but Braz uses good head movement to avoid it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lambton can't find room to land a body shot as Braz controls the action.
Lambton misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Lambton misses with a body punch.
Lambton tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Braz's elbow.
Braz blocks a body shot from Lambton.
Lambton working aggressively here.
Braz can't get the takedown.
Braz has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lambton is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Braz gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Lambton regains guard.
Lambton wants to stand and escape but Braz is having none of it.
Braz sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lambton's guard.
Braz prevents Lambton from standing back up.

Braz in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Lambton tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Braz!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Shoei Braz!
Shoei Braz opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
