The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackal avoids the head kick by Sando.

Sando bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Sando throws an elbow but Jackal slips to the side and avoids it well.

Sando decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jackal to his feet.
Sando swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jackal fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Sando looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Jackal bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Sando's head backwards.
Sloppy strikes from Jackal. Those never looked like landing.

It looks like Kuuri Sando has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jackal throws a right and a left that Sando avoids nicely.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Wood uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Wood lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Wood tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Wood throws a series of punches but Smith moves out of range.
Smith tries to counter with a takedown but Wood is quick to defend against it.
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown. Wood tries to sprawl out of it but Smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wood manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
