The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kubik changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mhanna tries to avoid it but Kubik manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mhanna to the ground. Mhanna escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mhanna throwing a counter right hand but Kubik manages to avoid it.
Kubik blocks a jab.
Mhanna throws a looping overhand right but Kubik ducks down to avoid it.
Kubik wants to counter with a clinch but Mhanna pushes him away.
Kubik shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Mhanna counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
No luck for Kubik with that takedown attempt.
Evarist Mhanna has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adrian Kubik.
Mhanna steps in with a hook that catches Kubik right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Mhanna follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Kubik looks absolutely devastated.

Soupdrinker is trying to drag Johnson to the mat but Johnson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Johnson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Johnson tries to bum rush Soupdrinker with a series of wild strikes but Soupdrinker uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Soupdrinker using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Johnson has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Johnson throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Soupdrinker tries to clinch up.
Johnson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Soupdrinker enables Johnson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Soupdrinker manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Johnson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Elmose can do anything to dispel that myth.
Elmose might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Waller haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Mitokoshiak gets control of McGee's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mitokoshiak will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Gravity manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Fredrickson on his heels. He'll look to pass Fredrickson's guard now, I'm sure.
