The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brand throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Maeda tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Brand paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Maeda closes the distance and clinches up with Brand, looking for a takedown. Maeda pushes Brand against the cage but Brand circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Maeda shoots in but Brand avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Horrible takedown by Maeda or perhaps it was just good defense by Brand which made him look bad.

Brand throws a right and a left that Maeda avoids nicely.

Maeda closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Maeda lands in his opponent's guard.

Maeda gets to his feet. Brand looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Brand scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Brand misses with the combination.
Brand slaps away a takedown attempt from Maeda, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Brand rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Maeda moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Maeda looks for a takedown but Brand sprawls well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
No luck for Maeda with that takedown attempt.

That was a close round but I would say that Mitsuyo Maeda will probably get the nod.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Brand stuffs the takedown attempt from Maeda. Maeda gets slowly back to his feet.
Maeda looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Brand throws a hook to the side of Maeda's head but Maeda sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Brand looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Maeda shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Brand but Brand pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Brand paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
No joy there for Brand, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Maeda wants to clinch up but Brand keeps it at a distance.
Brand avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Maeda is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Maeda shoots in looking for a takedown. Brand tries to sprawl out of it but Maeda keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Brand manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Brand showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Brand gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Brand wants to stand but Maeda is controlling the position.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Maeda is defended easily by Brand.

Maeda tries for a takedown but Brand sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Brand misses with a double jab.
Brand swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Maeda changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brand tries to avoid it but Maeda manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brand to the ground. Brand escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brand throws a right and a left that Maeda avoids nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mitsuyo Maeda.
I think Maeda has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Cromphout swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Cromphout shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jackson as he avoids it easily.
Jackson just misses with a punch to the body.
Cromphout loads up on a big right hand but Jackson slips the punch.
Jackson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Af postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Crabtree Jr is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Af, into his guard.

Af is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Shirley Crabtree Jr.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Crabtree Jr, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
