The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cup walks into a straight right hand from White.
It looks like Blue Cup has been cut.

White looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
White throws a hook but Cup avoids it easily.
White gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Cup jabs White to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Cup catches White napping and connects with a big right hand that sends White to the canvas!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cup is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
White might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Cup drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cup jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Cup told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Cup is sneakily working for an arm triangle but White sees it coming and defends easily.
White is looking for a sweep. Cup is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Fortier has picked Koniu up - he's going for a ride! Fortier dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Koniu pushes Fortier off looking to stand but Fortier dives back in and keeps control.

Fortier is looking for a kimura but Koniu is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Fortier to get the leverage.
Koniu is looking to escape.

Fortier is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Fortier prevents Koniu from standing back up.
Koniu is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Fortier is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Koniu is just riding it out for now. Fortier eventually gives up the hold.

Koniu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fortier. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
