The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Nasmfus has clasped his hands together around Yoshimachi's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Yoshimachi is trying to get back to his feet.
Yoshimachi looks to move to half guard but instead Nasmfus has passed into mount! Damn!
Yoshimachi is trying desperately to improve position.
Yoshimachi tries to hold on but Nasmfus postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nasmfus lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Yoshimachi hang on?

Nasmfus's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Nasmfus swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Yoshimachi is now in Nasmfus's guard. A big mistake from Nasmfus there, giving up the dominant position!

Nasmfus pulls Yoshimachi in close to prevent any damage.

Yoshimachi stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Nasmfus moves into the clinch.

Nasmfus is pulling down on Yoshimachi's head. It's preventing any offense from Yoshimachi, at least for the moment.
Yoshimachi really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Nasmfus has his foot on Yoshimachi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Yoshimachi works his way back into a safe position though.

Nasmfus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yoshimachi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Nasmfus is looking for a kimura but Yoshimachi is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nasmfus to get the leverage.

Nasmfus is trying to get an arm triangle but Yoshimachi is defending well.

Palpatine throws a half hearted mid kick.
Palpatine slaps away a takedown attempt from Diaz, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Palpatine tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Palpatine decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Diaz trying to hold on to Palpatine's head to control him but Palpatine postures up.
Palpatine really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Palpatine tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Diaz.

Palpatine stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Palpatine wants it to stay on the feet.

Diaz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Palpatine cracks Diaz with a right hand to the side of the head.
Diaz throws a shot from downtown. Palpatine moves away and avoids it.
Diaz misses with an uppercut. Palpatine saw that one coming.
Diaz throws a right and a left that Palpatine avoids nicely.
Diaz rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Palpatine moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Palpatine feints the counter takedown.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Velasquez tries to land a front kick but Gnarr steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Gnarr tries to clinch there but Velasquez circles away.
Gnarr fails with a takedown attempt.
Gnarr misses with a head kick.
Velasquez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A big left from Velasquez misses.

Velasquez tries to close the distance and clinch but Gnarr swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

It looked like Velasquez wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Gnarr steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Velasquez.

Gnarr gets control of Velasquez's arms and successfully pulls guard. Gnarr will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Gnarr is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gnarr thows a huge punch but Velasquez dodges it nicely.
Gnarr has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gnarr is keen to just control but Velasquez is a slippery customer.
Velasquez tries to roll over but Gnarr keeps him under control.
Gnarr looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Let's hope that Gnarr has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Velasquez is looking for a sweep. Gnarr is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Gnarr tries to stand but can't do so whilst Velasquez controls his leg.

Velasquez tries to roll over but Gnarr keeps him under control.
Gnarr passes the guard and advances to mount!
Gnarr with shots to the head and body - Velasquez looks very uncomfortable down there.
It looks like Victor Velasquez has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Gnarr.

Velasquez tries to clinch up but Gnarr circles away and keeps his distance.
Gnarr is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Velasquez with a body shot.
Gnarr throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Velasquez's waist but Velasquez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gnarr off to one side.
Velasquez lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Velasquez enables Gnarr to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Velasquez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Velasquez manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Velasquez prevents a takedown attempt there.

Gnarr escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gnarr checks a leg kick nicely.
Velasquez throws a nice outside leg kick.
Gnarr dives in for a single leg takedown but Velasquez sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
An attempted straight right counter from Velasquez misses the target.
Victor Velasquez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rag Gnarr.

Velasquez swats away the attempt to clinch by Gnarr.
Gnarr blocks a leg kick.
Gnarr goes for a double leg but Velasquez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Velasquez continues to drive forward.
That kick from Velasquez tenderised Gnarr's leg. Gnarr is trying to keep his angry face on.

Gnarr takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Gnarr tries for a takedown but Velasquez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Velasquez lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Gnarr doesn't manage to clinch there - Velasquez circles away.
Velasquez lands a head kick. Gnarr smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Gnarr changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Velasquez tries to avoid it but Gnarr manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Velasquez to the ground. Velasquez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Velasquez looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Gnarr crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Velasquez - the referee stops the clock and Gnarr gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Velasquez. Gnarr manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Velasquez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gnarr can do to turn this around?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
