Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wade Giles (ranked 914 p4p, 1582 weight class) and Alasdair Finlay (ranked 123 p4p, 203 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wade Giles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alasdair Finlay!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Chris Edwards and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Giles shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Finlay tries to keep at a distance but Giles has taken the fight into the clinch.

Finlay breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nice defenses there by Finlay.
Finlay swings for the body but Giles moves out of range.

Finlay cracks Giles with a good jab.
Finlay misses with a hook. Giles ducked under it nicely.
Giles is looking to clinch but Finlay is avoiding it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Giles tries to throw a body punch but Finlay avoids it by throwing Giles back against the cage.
Finlay wants to get back to striking at distance but Giles won't allow it.
Giles keeps control of Finlay as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
I was talking to Giles's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Giles shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Finlay is trying to defend but Giles finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Giles wants to control but Finlay is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Giles lands a nice short elbow.

Finlay wants to improve his position but Giles is controlling well.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Finlay preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Finlay really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Giles. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Finlay is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Giles is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Finlay doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Giles.
Giles will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Giles throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

and Finlay counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
It looks like Wade Giles has been cut.
Finlay misses with an uppercut. Giles saw that one coming.
Giles gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Finlay counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Finlay steps in with a hook that catches Giles right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Finlay follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Giles looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alasdair Finlay!
Our winner, Alasdair Finlay, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
