The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pippen tries to close the distance and clinch but Thrasher swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Thrasher changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pippen tries to avoid it but Thrasher manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pippen to the ground. Pippen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Pippen thuds a left hand into Thrasher's body.
Thrasher looks gassed!
Thrasher shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pippen pinned against the cage. Pippen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Pippen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Thrasher.
Pippen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

MacLachlan has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Chiba regains guard immediately.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if MacLachlan can do anything to dispel that myth.
