And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael Bostic!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bostic throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lahey tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bostic is in Lahey's guard.
Lahey is pulling down on Bostic's head. It's preventing any offense from Bostic, at least for the moment.
Bostic loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Bostic trying to control but Lahey is working from the bottom.
Lahey knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bostic on the ground.
Bostic lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bostic is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bostic has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Lahey is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Bostic.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bostic has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Lahey is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bostic shoots in and drives through. Lahey sprawls well.

Lahey really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Bostic working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Bostic is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Horrible takedown attempt by Bostic or perhaps it was just good defense by Lahey, which made it look bad.

Bostic tries to get into range but Lahey steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Bostic! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Lahey scores the big KO victory!
