That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kenichi Misahawa.

Petrov has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Swas is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Petrov.

David Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Philipp Tyurin.

Jones feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Jones decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tyurin moves away.
Jones displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tyurin.
Tyurin closes the distance and clinches up with Jones, looking for a takedown. Tyurin pushes Jones against the cage but Jones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Tyurin looks winded!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Jones lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Tyurin has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Tyurin and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Jones takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
That has opened up Philipp Tyurin's cut even more.

Jones lands a big uppercut and Tyurin crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Tyurin looks OK. Jones waves Tyurin back to his feet!
The cut above Philipp Tyurin's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Tyurin shoots and misses
and Jones scores with a counter punch that sends Tyurin to the canvas! Jones smells blood - he's punishing Tyurin with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Tyurin has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Jones!
