The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Cosme counters with a single leg into guard. Morpheus didn't expect that.

Cosme drops back looking for a leg! Morpheus is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Morpheus manages to kick Cosme off! Cosme jumps back into Morpheus's guard.

Morpheus is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Morpheus lands with a kick to the temple. Cosme shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

It looks like Edvaldo Cosme has been cut.
Morpheus throws a good cross that connects.
Cosme avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Morpheus throws a push kick but Cosme slaps the foot to one side.
Cosme closes the distance and clinches up with Morpheus, looking for a takedown. Cosme pushes Morpheus against the cage but Morpheus circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Morpheus throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Cosme thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Cosme drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cosme jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Cosme throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Morpheus works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cosme is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cosme is stalling in the full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Morpheus can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
