The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pierre shoots in looking for a takedown. Fitzgerald tries to sprawl out of it but Pierre keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fitzgerald manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Shinnosuke Nakagawa was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Nakagawa has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Nakagawa tries to close the distance and clinch but Adam swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Adam went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

A telegraphed right hand from Adam misses the target.
Nakagawa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Adam pinned against the cage. Adam gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A quick step to the side and Adam tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Adam fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Nakagawa on the side of the head.
Adam clobbers Nakagawa with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Nakagawa shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Nakagawa prevents Adam from improving his position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Nakagawa has picked Adam up - he's going for a ride! Nakagawa dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Nakagawa seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Adam does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
