The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horowitz throws a nice head kick!
It looks like Gonzo Souza has been cut.

Horowitz leaves Souza with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Horowitz throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Souza stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hoola throws a body punch but Newman moves out of range.

Hoola moves into range and clinches up with Newman.
Hoola lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Newman manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Hoola is fighting to break Newman's control of his arms but Newman is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hoyce Gracias (ranked 6081 p4p, 2730 weight class) and Gerrad Skolz (ranked 591 p4p, 350 weight class). Hoyce Gracias had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 171.1lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Skolz has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Gracias.
Gracias is looking to slow Skolz down with leg kicks.
