Mesquita looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kristiansen controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kristiansen's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Mesquita is trying to keep Kristiansen in close.

Kristiansen content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Mesquita has locked up a guillotine! Mesquita's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Kristiansen is holding on here and Mesquita must be using up a lot of energy. Kristiansen has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Mesquita gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Richard Mesquita!
