Hightower working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Vilkas is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hightower throws an elbow that misses. Vilkas uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hightower's guard. Nice move by Vilkas!

Vilkas seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Vilkas wants to control from the top but Hightower keeps moving.
Hightower has control of Vilkas's left arm, preventing Vilkas from doing any damage.
Vilkas controls from within his opponent's guard.

Vilkas displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hightower throws out the jab.

Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Vilkas. Hightower shrugs it off though.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Vilkas misses with an uppercut. Hightower saw that one coming.
Hightower rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Vilkas counters with a left and a right that stings Hightower.
Hightower throws a leg kick that is checked
and Vilkas counters with a right hand to the body.
Hightower throws an off balance right hand
and Vilkas cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A punch lands to the side of Hightower 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Hightower ducks under a wild hook from Vilkas.
Vilkas pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Vilkas just misses with a punch to the body.
Hightower is looking to counter punch.
Deividas Vilkas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vilkas lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hightower takes a step back to recover.
Vilkas connects with a nice looking jab.
Vilkas lands a big right hook! Hightower looks hurt but is still standing! Vilkas lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Hightower falls down and Vilkas dives in with a huge hammer fist! Hightower's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Vilkas runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 5, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Deividas Vilkas!
Deividas Vilkas is the new heavyweight champion!
